Assistant Superintendent of SJ Schools Amy Dirlam

Amy shared that teacher development is an important and prominent part of the SJ Schools’ current Strategic Plan that aims to:

  • Foster respect and kindness among students. 
  • Implement the tenets of Professional Learning Communities (PLC). 
  • Create student-centered classrooms which actively engage students. 
  • Establish curriculum and instruction maps for each grade. 
  • Differentiate classroom instruction to meet each learner’s needs. 
  • Provide Interventions targeted to each individual student’s needs- a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). 
  • Foster relationships between students and trusted adults. 
  • Expand services for emerging English learners.
