Ashley Schulte was our speaker for the day. She gave a presentation on βYouth Protection Policies & Procedures.β Ashley answered the questions:
- Who needs a Kiwanis Background check? Kiwanis Key Club Advisors and chaperones need a valid background check.Β
- What is the Kiwanis Culture of Care? The culture of care provides youth with resources to prevent bullying, access mental health resources, communicate in a healthy manner, and respect personal boundaries.Β
- How to report abuse, inappropriate behavior, and policy violations. The Youth Protection Helpline is 866-607-SAFE.Β
Ashley reviewed online and electronic policies. This includes not following, friending, or initiating communications with youth. Use the rule of 3 and avoid 1-on-1 interactions on social media. The same goes for transportation. There should be at least 3 people in the car, with the youth in the back seat, and parental permission.Β
