Ken Flowers, President LMC

Ken Flowers attended Benton Harbor Schools and received a degree from LMC. He went on to get a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate in education and leadership.

Starting as an adjunct instructor at LMC in 1991, he advanced through several leadership roles in the technical trades and was named president in April of this year. He has spent most of his career in Career Technical Education (CTE).

Regarding LMC, he told us that they were ranked the #1 community college in Michigan by “SmartAsset” in 2024 and 2025 and #13 in the nation. Some of the reasons for that ranking include a 13:1 student-faculty ratio and the fact that half of the faculty hold doctorate degrees.

His priorities as President include:

  • Strengthening community and employer partnerships.
  • Expanding access for underserved students and working adults.
  • Growing programs that meet regional workforce needs.
  • Ensuring LMC remains affordable.
