Skate Park Update

Jay Simmons is a member of the “Friends of St. Joseph Skate Park.” This is a group of action-wheeled sports enthusiasts who got together when they heard that the John and Dede Howard Skatepark at Kiwanis Park was at the end of its lifespan of 25 years. They saw this as an opportunity to build a completely modern, world-class skatepark from the ground up.

The new design will be made of concrete and will eliminate much of the metal and seams on the current model.

An informational event was held at Kiwanis Park and was meant to be the kick-off for much needed fundraising. Amazingly, a local citizen, Judy Felland, promised $1 million dollars for the project and that met their goal! Judy was also a contributor to the Kaleidoscope Playground. Now the plans are to finish up the designs this year and then start construction by April of 2027.
