Update on The Marquette

Peter Rienks, Founder and President of The Rienks Group (TRG), and Terry Malloy, Director of Business Development. TRG discussed their latest project, the Marquette, a $57.4 million construction project with housing and commercial real estate at the corner of Lake Blvd and Pleasant St., downtown St. Joseph. 

This project is at the site of the old YWCA. A previous developer’s project for a building that would house 32 condos fell through because of poor support from the city. 

The current project, with ongoing city support, is on schedule for groundbreaking this summer, to be completed in 2 years. The plan is for 70 upscale apartments to be rented at the median salary rate (up to 120%) and 32 luxury condos. The developers will receive tax breaks for offering the apartments at affordable prices. There will be a courtyard roof deck and green space, and 11,000 sq. ft. of retail space on the ground floor. Most importantly, there will be 160 parking spots for residents and the public in an underground garage.
